This course was developed in response to an advisory board recommendation to provide for practical experience. This course provides the student with work experience in a criminal justice, private security, or human services agency.

General Course Statement(s)


Methods of Instruction


On site experience, volunteer, organizational study, and written evaluation as applied to the agency/service are including two written word processed reports from each student and a written evaluation by job supervisor.

Assignments


  1. One word processed report describing the purposes and clientele; organization and functions; staffing and personnel practices; and tasks of personnel of the agency to which he/she is assigned utilizing any documents available at the agency and interviews with agency personnel.
  2. One word processed report in which each student will relate his/her experiences in the agency to material in Administration of Justice classes and describe how these relate to their personal expectations and goals.
  3. Each student will be responsible for obtaining from the agency supervisor an evaluation of their performance and total hours on an approved form.

Methods of Evaluation


  1. Written reports evaluated on the student's ability to describe the purposes, functions and organization of the agency to which he/she was assigned along with a report on how the student applied the material in Administration of Justice classes on the job.
  2. Written evaluation by job supervisor rating the students performance on the job using the criteria listed on the evaluation from along with the record of attendance.
