- This course is an in-service workshop for program directors, site supervisors, headteachers, or others with administrative or supervisory responsibility to improve skills and knowledge in the area of Child Development program administration. Course topics will vary.

Course Justification
This course is a stand-alone course. It counts toward administration units needed and required to obtain a California Child Development Permit. The course offers students current topics in preschool administration and allows them to remain current in topics relating to early childhood issues. Students are introduced to contemporary methods and ideas in early childhood.

- Contributions to course discussions
- Completion of an individual research project on an aspect of the course topic. The project will be prepared both as a written assignment and as a group presentation.
Methods of Evaluation
- Students will reflect on current national, regional or personal administrative needs and goals through course readings and share their knowledge with each other through class discussions.
- Students will discuss, in small and large groups, research and topics relating to current national, regional, or personal administrative needs.
- Students will complete an final exam based on the National Association for the Education of Young Children, Early Childhood Program Standards.
- Students will demonstrate newly acquired administrative skills and knowledge through the any one of the following written examples, but not limited to; submission of a grant proposal, advocacy letter, action research proposal, or position paper.
- Classroom discussion and a written reflection: Students will demonstrate through small group discussion, the ability to empathize with different perspectives presented in the classroom and course materials. Students will demonstrate also the ability to accommodate new administrative schema and skills in early childhood education.
