It was developed to provide students with an overview of the Chicanx and Latinx artistic expressions and their contributions to U.S. culture.

- Directed term paper to analyze and synthesize a major issue relative to a major work depicting significant aspects of Chicanx and Latinx Art based on research.
- Collaborative group work where students will organize, prepare and present a major work related to Chicanx Latinx Art and demonstrate clarity and analytical quality of both written and oral work.
Methods of Evaluation
- Writing assignments such as a film critique paper or book reviews to evaluate student's ability to synthesize course materials and to discuss critical issues related to Chicanos/as and Latinos/as and Art.
- Directed research term paper to apply critical thinking skills in analyzing either a major issue relative to or a major cinematic work depicting significant aspects of Chicano and Latino culture with bibliographic information.
- Participation and contribution in classroom activities and discussion in which student abilities to interpret and process information will be applied.
- Final exam to evaluate mastery of key terms and concepts, and assess analytical skills pertaining to an examination of Chicanx/Latinx arts.

Course Objectives
- Develop fundamental skills necessary to assess, interpret and analyze art.
- Develop and use interpretive skills to analyze the historical and social development of the Chicanx and Latinx experiences as depicted in various art fields
- Assess the importance of values, beliefs, customs, and traditions reflected in the various fields of art by Chicanx and Latinx artists.
- Compare and contrast modern and contemporary visual and performing art forms as created by Chicanx and Latinx artists.
- Assess interprets and analyzes the contributions of Chicanx and Latinx people to American art forms.
- Identify stereotypical misconceptions regarding the artistic and intellectual capacities of the Chicano/a and Latino/a in the creative arts.
