Course Justification

This is a stand-alone course that was developed based on input from our advisory committee and the requirements of the California Board of Registered Nurses (BRN). This course is offered so that students can practice skills for geriatric populations: intravenous push medication administration, application of soft restraints, performing advanced sterile procedures and maintaining central intravenous catheters. The equipment needed by the students cannot be accessed outside the nursing skills lab setting. Students must be competent in these skills before performing them in the geriatric clinical setting.
