Course Justification
This course is in a CTE program and is CSU transferable. This course was developed to fulfill the need for students to obtain some practical on the job experience as a paralegal prior to entering the workforce. This course belongs on the certificate and degree programs in Paralegal Studies. Students will have the opportunity to practice skills they will have learned while completing courses within the Paralegal Studies program.

Methods of Instruction
On site experience, volunteer work, organizational study, and written evaluation as applied to the agency/service area including two written word precessed reports from each student and a written evaluation by job supervisor.
Assignments
- One word processed report describing the purposes and clientele; organization and functions; staffing and personnel practices; and tasks of personnel of the agency to which he/she is assigned utilizing any documents available at the agency and interviews with agency personnel.
- One word processed report in which each student will relate their experiences in the agency to material in Paralegal classes and describe how these relate to their personal expectations and goals.
- Each student will be responsible for obtaining from the agency supervisor an evaluation of their performance and total hours on an approved form.
Methods of Evaluation
- Written reports evaluated on the student's ability to describe the purposes, functions and organization of the agency to which he/she was assigned along with a report on how the student applied the material in Paralegal Studies classes on the job
- Written evaluation by job supervisor rating the students performance on the job using the criteria listed on the evaluation form along with the record of attendance
