Methods of Instruction
On-site internship experience in office, agency, or community organization; study, reflection, and writing on the internship experience; and feedback/evaluation of writing and internship evaluation
Assignments
- Interns will be required to document their hours of internship work
- Interns will be expected to maintain a weekly journal of reflections responding to a series of assigned questions and prompts
- Interns will be expected to produce a final report/summary overview of their internship experience in response to a series of prompts
- Students will be required to submit an evaluation by their internship provider at the end of their service
Methods of Evaluation
- Assessment of course objectives will be based on evaluation of weekly journal submissions, the final report, and the internship provider evaluation in terms of the student's knowledge of the office/agency/organization, its values, and impact on constituents/clients/supporters; and the student's ability to critically reflect on the internship experience
- The instructor of record will maintain regular contact with the job supervisor and continuously assess intern performance through direct student contact to ensure that expectations regarding the internship are being met by the student intern and intern provider
