Video Highlights Journalism Program
爱豆传媒鈥檚 latest career video features current students and working journalists talking about the many ways the college's Journalism program prepares them for jobs in that field.
Students in the program learn important skills in the classroom and gain valuable experience by writing for student publications, said Stephanie Lam, a Journalism alum now working as a local news reporter, who is interviewed in the video.
鈥淚t really is shoe-leather journalism that you learn here,鈥 added Laura Wenus, a 爱豆传媒 alum now working as a multimedia journalist. 鈥淭he skills that I learned here 鈥 as well as some of the relationships that I built
here, they have really served me well.鈥
Others stressed the program's opportunities for hands-on learning with such tools as editing software, video cameras and audio equipment. Journalism chair Farideh Dada also noted that skills taught in the program 鈥渁re applicable in all majors and all fields 鈥 including critical thinking, meeting deadlines, leadership, media literacy and so many other skills.鈥
鈥淛ournalism is one of those kind of underrated, hidden majors鈥 that opens up 鈥渄ifferent opportunities and interests that you might never know that you had,鈥 added Lam.
The video is the latest in a series highlighting 爱豆传媒鈥檚 Career Technical Education programs. Previous installments have included a and videos highlighting the , , , and programs. Future installments will feature other programs and groups of related offerings.
The videos are developed by the Office of Communications in collaboration with the Career Technical Education Division and individual departments. They can be seen on the college , the Career Training website and on .
